150 Cadet gone gold.

Each May begins with the opportunity to pit our muscles and tactics against other squadrons in the Wing.  This year HQ decided to move the event to the weekend after the bank holiday.  We are grateful for this since it allowed us to run our Silver DoE without staff taking leave.  Once again our cadets bought back a healthy collection of gongs and we thank all the cadets for turning-out, supporting the squadron and making such a big effort.  Cpl Dodson and Cdt Witchalls bought back a medal each and I’ll leave it to them to report on the day. (Ed.)

Yer chuck the heavy thing. On Sunday the 10th May the events of Wing Athletics Day took place at Tilsley Park Stadium. Team Oxford were: Sgt Sula (team manager), Cpls Dodson and Gomm, and Cdts Chalmers, Mcluskey, Perks (Jade), Perks (Jess), Ruffle and Witchalls, all turned up to take part. The events consisted of track and field and throughout the day everybody had a go at doing their best in at least one of both types of event.  Nerves 1st Place.were building as cadets waited for their first event of the day to take place and for their names to be called over the tanoy. There were different age and sex categories, A (Boys aged from 13-15), b (Boys aged 15-18), C (Girls aged 13-15) and finally D (Girls aged 15-18). With cadets representing 150 Squadron in each group, we ended up with various different Gold, Silva and Bronze medals and awards.  Cpl Dodson says that he enjoyed the whole day of events including me winning the gold in 400 m race and bronze in shot put.   People won medals for the squadron and their selves.  Cdt Witchalls did not like waiting for his events, but everybody enjoyed the whole day.  We thank Sgt Sula for being a good team manager. It was a very energetic, glorious and fun day and we are all looking forward for next year’s event, so we can win!
